Elmore James recorded "It Hurts Me Too" for the first time in 1957, but it became a hit only when he released another version in late 1962 or early 1963, with more prominent slide guitar work. His arrangement was a standard for many blues musicians who then successfully covered it as well.

"It Hurts Me Too" was first recorded in 1940 by Tampa Red and finally, in 2012,  it was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame as a Classic of Blues Recording.
